Earlier this week, split gate developer 1047 games It has been announced that development of the game will cease as it moves to a follow-up game in Unreal Engine 5.
Hybrid Breakout Strike halo and Web portals There will be no further feature updates, but this marks the end of one game and the beginning of another. In a statement provided on Twitter, 1047 Games explained its decision to stop developing Splitgate, while also reassuring fans that its next game will also be a portal shooter.
“After careful consideration and deliberation, the 1047 Games team has decided that in order to build what fans of the game deserve — and build it in a way that doesn’t try to revamp and live-operate an existing product — we’ll end the feature development split gate, ” read the announcement.
The post goes on to explain that the team wants to move on from “iterative, smaller updates” and that it wants to “focus on new games in the Splitgate universe…it will be a shooter and it will have portals” , and it will be built in Unreal Engine 5. Oh, and it will be free.”
The new Battle Pass is scheduled to release on September 15th and is completely free for all players. The game will remain online and players will not lose any access to their items and progress.
Splitgate is a big success in preparation Halo Infinite, as it plays similarly to the classic shooter, but apparently adds a new spin by adding portals. The release of Halo Infinite didn’t even affect Splitgate’s player base. In fact, according to 1047 Games co-founder Ian Proulx, the number of gamers on the PlayStation actually increased following the launch of Infinite.
Whatever 1047 Games is doing right now, it sounds like it will obviously be very similar, though not necessarily a full sequel.
