“Squidward Game” Season 2 Trailer Released

As popular as Squidward is in 2021, we wouldn’t blame you if you forgot that season 2 will be available on Netflix later this year. It’s been a while, but marketing has finally begun.

Last summer, we learned about the new contestants for the second season of the hit show, but little else. Additionally, Netflix and series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk have been tight-lipped about the whole thing, while distracting die-hard fans with a real-life game show called Squidward: Challenge . Now, we finally have footage from season two.

As you can see, if you pull out the Netflix credits, the entire preview runs less than 15 seconds, so there’s not a lot to dissect here. However, this confirms that we’re likely going to be in for a very different second season. Qi Xun (played by Lee Jung Jae) went through many hardships, became the winner of the competition, and learned the truth behind the competition. Soon after, he dyed his hair bright red, got a haircut, and decided to take on the man behind the twisted game.

In the hilarious trailer, Ki-hoon promises that he will “do whatever it takes” to find the main man behind the game. It’s essentially more of what we already saw at the end of Season 1, but it lets us know that the Squidward game itself might not take up as much space as it did before. On top of that, we shouldn’t forget the entire subplot involving Detective Wong and his missing brother, who is revealed to be the evil frontman.

Lee Jung-jae will next play a Jedi Master in Star Wars: Acolytethe first Disney+ live-action series set in a galaxy far, far away during the High Republic Era.
