Star Trek: Picard Season 3 introduces Jean-Luc Picard’s (Patrick Stewart) son Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers). Picard himself knew nothing about his son for years, who also built up a small career as a petty criminal. Exactly the same story was already in the 22nd episode of the seventh season of “Starship Enterprise – The Next Century”, did you know that?
There, Picard meets a young man named Jason Vigo (Ken Olandt), who turns out to be his son. Vigo became part of a revenge plan by the Ferengi DaMon Bok. This wants revenge on Picard, since Picard had killed his son years earlier. For this, Bok resequences Vigo’s DNA so that a paternity test shows that Picard is the father.
Although Picard had an affair with Jason Vigo’s mother, he is not actually the father. For a time, however, he believes so, including when Bok kidnaps and captures Vigo. So Picard had to face the fact that he had a son he didn’t know about who was suddenly in mortal danger.
Jason was raised much like Jack Crusher. Only from his mother, who dedicated her life to helping other people. Both share a petty criminal past.
In the end, the truth emerges that Bok only “made up” Picard’s son to devise a revenge plan that touches Picard emotionally. However, Picard and Jason Vigo part on good terms and Vigo asks Picard if he would like to visit him sometime.
However, with all the drama surrounding Picard’s feelings about paternity starting all over again, we have a safe bet Jean-Luc Picard never complied with Jason Vigo’s request.
The next episode of “Star Trek: Picard” Season 3 will be released on Friday in Germany on Amazon Prime Video and Paramount+. There are many more Star Trek releases to look forward to this year!
