What is Star Wars Visions?

In case you missed this huge nugget when it was released, it might be time to revisit the series. Star Wars Visions. Airing direct to Disney+ in September 2021, Star Wars Visions is a very special animated series that stands out from the Star Wars universe for many reasons. First, unlike anything Disney has released since the company bought the rights a few years ago, This series is not canon. That said, while it picks up on the codes and universe of Star Wars, it’s not officially part of the story being told in cinema, other series, or video games. In other words, you don’t need to know a Star Wars story to understand visions.

Second in the nature of the series What if..? of Marvel, each episode tells a completely separate story. This is the big surprise of the day for Star Wars and animation fans: Star Wars Visions will be back with Volume 2! On the occasion of the Star Wars Celebration, Disney has just unveiled a trailer for the 2nd season of this very special animated series. As we did in season 1, we can already see some images of some of the short films that are offered to you and one thing you will surely not miss: This time it will no longer be about only putting Japanese studios in the spotlight.

As you can see in the trailer available in autoplay, Disney has decided to hire animation studios around the world to produce the second season of Star Wars Visions.

2D animation, 3D, clay style, stop motion, comic style, there’s probably something for everyone. If it’s still a bit early to know the identity of the chosen studios, We already know that this volume 2 will consist of 9 short films and that they will be available from next May 4th, a blessed day for Star Wars fans.
