Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection It’s a bit confusing that it includes an old mod without the creator’s permission, even though it says it won’t.
To the disappointment of many, Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection has yet to launch in a fully functioning state – and when it does launch, the servers are an absolute mess, although developer Aspyr did release a statement explaining why This happens. There are many other issues, but one of the most concerning from an ethical perspective is that the game appears to use mods from veteran Battlefront modder iamahaymin. Fans noticed the use of mods related to specific characters in the game’s first trailer, but Aspyr later claimed that the mod would not appear in the final version.

To briefly explain, this mod is for a character named Asajj Ventress, who was originally exclusive to the Xbox version of Battlefront 2. Iamashaymin later brought Ventress to PC by redesigning a pre-existing character to look like a DLC character, meaning her animations weren’t the same as her original Xbox version – mismatches that were spotted in the trailer animation, which is why Aspyr had to make a statement.

However, now that the game has been released, the mod appears to still be in use, with Ventress not having the correct animations. Some players reported that the patch had replaced those animations with Aspyr-made animations, but this still frustrated iamahaymin, who told IGN, “This version is a mess. In fact, they have to release a patch immediately before and twenty years after the release.” Years old games really speak for themselves. Especially considering there are rumors that some patches have removed content they already removed months ago.
“I don’t really have anything to say, the other players were already screaming and it was a terrible feeling to be so excited about a game like this but to completely miss the mark. It was a terrible blow.”
The Battlefront modding community has also started working on various other fixes to the game, so even if Aspyr itself doesn’t fix all of the game’s issues, it sounds like there will at least be a way to enjoy the game. As of this writing, the game currently has mostly negative reviews on Steam, so things aren’t looking good at the moment.
