After the end of gamescom 2024, things are getting really exciting on Steam: This week you can expect one or more major new releases almost every day – but the most important release of the week can be found not on Steam, but on Ubisoft.

Shortly before release, Star Wars Outlaws shows wild blaster battles, space fights & chases
Genre: Action-Adventure | developer: Ubisoft | Release: 30. August (Ubisoft)
Star Wars Outlaws puts you in the role of Kay Vess, a young thief on the run who is looking for a way out of the criminal life. The gameplay revolves around Exploration, action and decisions – and all this in the first true single-player open world in the Star Wars universe.
You travel between different planets, discover areas such as the jungle of Akiva or the desert of Tatooine, and master tricky missions. The balance between action and stealth plays a central role, and you can use your alien companion Nix tactically. Space battles, speeder chases and firefights
A dynamic reputation system ensures that your decisions have tangible consequences, especially when dealing with the various crime syndicates such as the Pykes or the Hutt Cartel. You can play your enemies off against each other, for example to earn credits or simply to stay alive.
Star Wars Outlaws will be released on 30. August 2024 on Ubisoft Connect, those who buy the Gold Edition (110 dollars) or Ultimate Edition (130 dollars) can start three days earlier.

- Crypt Custodian: A Metroidvania in which you play a cat… who has to keep order as a caretaker in the realm of the dead. Sounds a bit silly, but was nominated for various Indie Awards and could become an insider tip.
Wednesday, August 28
- Gundam Breaker 4: The mecha action game lets you build your own Gundam, which you can use to give other Gundams a real beating. A cool destruction system is supposed to be used, which lets you break off individual parts of your enemies. These then go into your collection, of course!

- Warcana: The strategy game from Europey mixes tower defense with deck building and battle royale. Sounds wild, but it gets even wilder – after all, the engine can display tens of thousands of units at the same time. Our Maurice Weber and HandOfBlood have already celebrated the beta – it smells like a lot of insider tip potential.

- CarX Street: A huge open-world racing MMO with tons of game modes that even lets you build your own cars. Its predecessor, CarX Drift Racing Online, has had a loyal fan base on Steam for almost seven years and has 95 percent positive reviews – with over 70,000 votes!
- Visions of Mana: The latest part of the Mana series (you still know Secrets of Mana, right?) from Square Enix offers again fantasy RPG action and lets you beat up pogo balls in a semi-open game world.
- Squirrel with a Gun: As a trigger-happy rodent, you shoot your way through a small campaign in search of acorns. There is also a sandbox mode that promises chaos à la Goat Simulator.

- Yarimono: A Pokémon clone, but dark. As in the original, you collect creatures and train them – although the developers warn on their website about brutal battles. This could be because your starter creature can use a powerful move once per battle that destroys all other monsters in one hit.
- Megaloot: Looting and leveling, that’s what a game has to do – and this roguelite role-playing game is all about. You fight your way through 99 dungeon levels and collect a huge amount of loot, which you put together in your inventory to create powerful combos.
