EA shared the first Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Story trailer, finally confirming the return of Merrin and Greez Dritus.
We’ve been asking “where the hell are Greez and Merrin?” for a long time, and the latest trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor finally shows them off, even if we haven’t seen much of Greez. Unsurprisingly, the tone of the trailer is dark (pun not intended), with Carl Kestis trying to survive against the backdrop of Empire. “A dark age is approaching as Cal Kestis seeks a safe haven far from the Empire’s sphere of influence,” reads the trailer’s description. “Follow Cal and his crew in an increasingly desperate battle as the galaxy plunges further into darkness.”
The game starts five years after the events of the first game, with an older Carl who now has more experience. You can see in the trailer that he won’t be the only Force user in the galaxy, including Merrin, and it looks like you’ll be teaming up with him. There’s also some gameplay in the trailer, and it looks like you’ll be able to pull off some unique moves with some of your companions.
You’ll also see a Jedi looking guy asking Cal how he could let the galaxy “fall into the hands of this undeserving Imperial machine?” (as if it was Cal’s fault), presumably the one we had in the first trailer The man seen in the float tank. It’s kind of rude for him to blame it all on a character that retroactively became canon.
Survivor was supposed to launch last week, but was pushed back in February to an April 28 release date. Game director Stig Asmussen also shared recently that if Survivor does well enough, it could get a trilogy, which is how the team has always imagined it to be that way anyway.
