Star Wars: Outlaws from Ubisoft is scheduled to launch later this year and there is some good news for PC gamers with NVIDIA graphics cards. And the cloud is not neglected either.
How does Ubisoft do with a Star Wars game? This question will be answered this year and we are already curious as to whether it will be a typical Ubisoft open-world title again or whether a different approach will be taken.
At least technically we seem to have a lot to look forward to. Massive’s Snowdrop engine, known from The Division, isn’t the worst and it’s also good that owners of NVIDIA graphics cards will be able to enjoy important features at launch.
Star Wars: Outlaws on PC is enhanced with NVIDIA RTX Direct Illumination (RTXDI) and ray-traced Global Illumination lighting. RTXDI determines the key light patterns in Star Wars: Outlaws to cast physically correct ray-traced shadows.
The game’s performance is boosted with NVIDIA DLSS 3 including frame generation, so hopefully you don’t have to worry about stuttering. NVIDIA Reflex will also be on board to reduce system latencies.
Even if you don’t have an NVIDIA card on board, you can still enjoy these features because, as NVIDIA also confirmed, the title will also be available in the GeForce NOW cloud gaming service with all of the features mentioned.
NVIDIA features have also been confirmed for other titles. Black Myth: Wukong appears with full ray tracing and DLSS 3.5, as does Naraka: Bladepoint. Portal with RTX has received an update for DLSS 3.5 and RTX IO and Diablo IV is receiving an update with ray tracing on March 26th. Outcast: A New Beginning is released today with DLSS 2 and DLAA.
