There will also be new things to discover about Bethesda’s space epic Starfield in the new year; the developers now shared an outlook on the plans for 2024.
Like many other developers, Bethesda has now explained in more detail what will happen next in the case of Starfield in 2024. Accordingly, there are still many plans in the pipeline for the space epic to keep the players engaged.
That’s not necessarily surprising, after all, Starfield marked the largest launch of a game in Bethesda’s history – and that had already brought several top titles onto the market with Elder Scrolls and Co. Since the game launched in September, more than 13 million players have come to Starfield.
To ensure that they remain there in the long term, the title should receive a major update approximately every six weeks in 2024. The range of content will then be broad and range from quality-of-life improvements to new content and completely new features.
Some of the newly planned features for Starfield have already been specifically named. New ways of traveling will be implemented or there will be new city maps that will allow you to move more quickly through New Atlantis or Akila City. Furthermore, new customization options for the spaceships are planned, as are new difficulty settings or new survival mechanics.

The most important planned innovations are without question the last two features mentioned: With Creations, Bethesda will integrate official mod support into Starfield at the beginning of 2024. As part of this, there is the Creation Kit for creating your own modifications as well as the exporter so that you can then share them with the community. Due to this feature, a lot of new content and really game-changing innovations should arise directly from the community.
And: With “Shattered Space,” the first major story expansion for the game is on the way and will appear in 2024; However, when exactly this will happen is still unclear. Given the fairly prompt release of mod support, it probably won’t be ready at the beginning of the year. In addition to new story content, the add-on will bring new locations and equipment.
Before the release of individual patches, there will be a beta test phase via Steam, in which you can see for yourself before the respective live version starts.
