We’re really looking forward to it, but we’re still glad to see it confirmed. Starfield’s first expansion pack, Shattered Space, has officially been given a date, thanks to a new trailer released during the Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live.
Shattered Space has been shrouded in mystery since its release, and we only got our first glimpse of it at the Xbox Showcase in June. Now, we just have to wait a little longer before we can actually play it.

Shattered Space is set to release on PC and Xbox Series X/S on September 30. We know this won’t be the only expansion for Starfield, and we know quite a bit about the setting and some of the content for Shattered Space itself.
As seen in the initial trailer, the upcoming add-on will take us to the home planet of the great serpent worshippers to investigate an imminent threat. The Va’ruun family is one of the most interesting aspects of Starfield, and also the least representative of all its factions.
Shattered Space is our closest chance yet to delve deeper into the mysterious side of the Starfield universe, while exploring some interesting new environments. We also get to drive a new lunar rover to do this, and Bethesda has shown off some cool moves with footage of the REV-8, which it’s been able to hop into to some hip-hop music. You can get it via a free update to Starfield, which you can grab today.
