The first buyers are getting their Steam Deck sent to them these days and can start playing on Valve’s PC console. Now there are increasing signs that the Switch competitor could also get a dock later in the year.
On February 28th, the first Steam decks should be in the hands of buyers. In the run-up, an interesting find was made on the official website for a short time. A gamer has now saved pictures of a docking stati on before Valve quickly removed them from there.
A dock has been planned for the Steam Deck for some time, but Valve confirmed that there will not be one when the platform itself is released. A release date and further information about the portable docking station are still pending from the makers, but there are now increasing signs based on the image material that the publication will take place quite promptly.
While the section around the dock quickly disappeared from the website, images of the specific equipment could be secured. In the course of this it can also be read that the publication of the station should already take place in spring 2022, so in this respect it should not be too long in coming.
The dock for the Steam Deck will not improve the performance of the system, so it is purely an accessory. There you will be able to park the PC handheld and also get various ports at hand, for example to connect controllers and other USB devices. In addition, the dock should help ensure that the battery life does not run out extremely quickly when playing your title with an uncapped refresh rate.
