Steam Labs' Play Next will pick your next game from your library

The new Steam Lab experiment should help you solve your backlog problem.

Valve is live with the latest experimental features of the Steam Lab: Resume playback. Like Interactive Recommender, Play Next uses machine learning to analyze your gaming habits and help recommend other games you think you like.

However, this time, Valve turned its attention to the game library owned by users. "Next Game" will show the three games you should play in the next library. If you don't like what it throws, you can scroll and generate more.

Each of these three tiles will show the most popular tags in the game and run a mini trailer, which will help you understand what they mean. The tile will also list similar games you may have played.

Although Play Next shares the underlying technology with other Labs experiments, Valve believes that the algorithms that determine which games to showcase are new. As a result, some surfacing suggestions may seem strange.
