But beyond these apparent qualities, there are also small flaws that made us tick.

A solid experience on PS5 that lacks a bit of madness in certain aspects

If we dig deeper and don’t just limit ourselves to the mind-blowing qualities of the gameplay, Starblade

can cause frustration. It must be said that the title “Shift Up” is perhaps one of the most sophisticated games from a graphical point of view. However, we would have liked the level design and scenery to (sometimes) emphasize this aspect more, rather than dragging it down. In this case, we regret the strong presence of desert environments as well as the classicism of the level construction. We actually would have liked a little more madness! It’s a shame, because there are quite a few of them, especially during the breathtaking finale and in the game’s soundtrack.

However, as we suspect, this little grain of madness is not found at all levels. How it happens Starblade at certain moments made the daring decision of a half-open world, But this one is hot and cold, as it too often sets the stage for expendable side quests

. Fortunately, there are some that are of interest, be it in terms of Eva’s rise to power or in terms of side stories, but we are left a little dissatisfied. This is also a criticism of the progression of the main story, which is far too pronounced and quickly becomes redundant.. In short: despite these small pitfalls Starblade is an experience of astonishing solidity: we did not expect it at the level that defines it one of the nice surprises of the PS5 catalog in 2024!
