news culture Stranger Things: Netflix wants to reassure subscribers, but the writers disagree
If you’re one of the many Stranger Things fans, nothing should make your mouth water more than the arrival of season five, which we don’t know much about just yet. But when Netflix tried to convince its subscribers, the writers came to bring everyone back to reality.
Stranger Things Season 4 Celebrates Anniversary!
If there’s one series that’s served as a showcase for Netflix original creations since the first season released in July 2016, it’s Stranger Things. The latter was created by the Duffer Brothers and follows a group of children and their entourage in the fictional small town of Hawkins, United States, where strange and dangerous events have disrupted local daily life.
With an infamous success from the very first episodes, the series has grown in ambition and quality since its inception, culminating in a highly immersive fourth season with twists and turns that viewers will never want to get out of their head. In the latter we have discovered, among other things a new antagonist named Vecna who did not hesitate to possess his victims before killing them by dislocating their limbs Sometimes surprisingly graphic scenes reminiscent of some cult horror films of the 1980s.
And even though the fifth season hasn’t come out yet, This famous fourth season recently celebrated its first anniversary since the airing of its first episode on May 27, 2022. The opportunity for Netflix to revisit some of its most impressive scenes, including Max’s famous escape, with Kate helping Bush’s tube stay in control of his thoughts against Vecna. For the nostalgic, see that scene in the tweet directly above, though Watch out for spoilers if you haven’t seen this season yet.
When the screenwriters redesign Netflix France
Since Stranger Things season 4 wrapped, the only thing viewers have been waiting for is information about season 5. While we already know it’s supposed to be the very last installment in the series, Netflix hasn’t communicated anything about its scenario or release date yet. Worse, fans haven’t had a single teaser or image to ponder since the announcement.
On the occasion of this anniversary of the fourth season, Netflix France saw fit to reassure its subscribers with a perfectly normal tweet, the consequences of which they certainly could not have imagined. In fact, Netflix France’s official account announced that Season 5 is “in production.” A message as vague as it is false, given that the series is one of the few creations affected by the famous writers’ strike
Netflix France: Season 5 is in production
Foreign authors: No, we are not. We are on strike. How is France???
They don’t strike all the time in France?? Of all countries, you are the one making this mistake…
As a reminder, this strike has been going on since early May and is the result of failed negotiations between the Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) union and the studios and other platforms responsible for series streaming. About 11,500 Hollywood screenwriters are demanding a salary increase and guarantees of maintaining a stable job, not forgetting to renegotiate the profit shares of the SVOD platforms.
In addition to Stranger Things, other series such as The Last of Us (HBO) and The Rings of Power (Amazon Prime) could also be slowed down by this contradictory context. However, it’s worth noting that the Duffer brothers (the origin of the Netflix series) were very quick to announce their support for the strikers, which could work in their favour.
