street fighter 6 Apparently it’s already doing well on its own, as the latest fighting game series hit 1 million players in its first three days.
Earlier today, the Japanese Street Fighter account shared that the recently announced sequel managed to attract more than 1 million players within the first three days of its release. On top of that, according to these figures, the entire series has sold more than 50 million copies. There’s a lovely piece of art thanking players for reaching milestones, and the promise of an in-game reward, which is clearly a profile header.

In the UK, it failed to beat The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in terms of box sales, GamesIndustry.biz reported. Street Fighter VI managed to reach number two in the UK charts, and while it’s obviously not off to a very strong start in terms of box sales, it’s likely that most of those sales will come from digital sales. Reaching one million players, it sounds like the game is working fine.
It’s certainly off to a stronger start than the series’ predecessor, Street Fighter V, which only managed to transfer 1.4 million copies in the game’s first month of release. Street Fighter V was generally well-received by fans at launch, mostly due to the lack of arcade and story modes, and the big problem with rage exits.
Street Fighter VI, on the other hand, was clearly popular with fans, as it also quickly beat Mortal Kombat to become the most played fighting game of all time on Steam. It also received very good reviews, with Alex of iGamesNews giving the game 5/5 stars in his review, emphasizing the robust combat system and diverse content modes.
