it looks like street fighter 6 There will be cross-play and rollback of network codes, two much sought-after features in fighting games.
It only takes two words to get fighting game fans excited: rollback network code. Thanks to GameSpot’s Tamoor Hussain, we now know that the latest entry in the Street Fighter franchise will feature it. Famous fighting game player Maximilian Dood also confirmed Street Fighter 6 there will be cross-playanother big win for fighting game fans.
Rolling back the network code may require some explanation to those outside the FGC community. Essentially, this is a technique that circumvents the latency of the game’s predicted input when playing online, so there is no input lag. The same applies to your opponent, both ends are treated as the computer and not the other player.
This may sound odd, but in most cases, computers can predict the movements you’ll be using very accurately. The idea is to make it as close to a local game as possible, since fighting games are so much about accurate inputs and readouts.
Pairing rollback with cross-play means players on any platform can play together without difficulty. Because both are pretty typical high-demand features for older fighting games without them.
Thankfully, Street Fighter 6 is shaping up to be an incredibly strong follow-up, as our very own Alex Donaldson was able to get his hands on it in a very early preview. So far, it looks like SF6 has learned a lot from its predecessor Street Fighter 5 mistake. And other lessons from other recent fighting games.
While it looks like the entire roster has leaked online, the Summer Games Festival did give us an official reveal of one of Street Fighter’s most iconic characters, Guile.
Street Fighter 6 uses rollback network code. Many people are asking.
