Content creators on YouTube are taking down Street Fighter 6 videos, striking multiple channels that broadcast pay-per-view tournament showcases.
This showcase features gameplay from several characters that people haven’t seen in action yet, including Blanka, Dee Jay, Manon, Marisa, and JP. Fighting game content creators eager to dissect flaunting special moves, combos and super skills were quick to create video content, only to be hit by a channel strike.
For those of you who don’t know, the copyright channel strike on YouTube is serious business! One might be scary enough as a permanent mark on your platform, but three strikes within 90 days will result in your channel being permanently removed from the site. It might not be the end of the world for those just archiving footage, but for full-time content creators with tens of thousands of subscribers, it’s essentially the sudden undoing of a lot of hard work.
This is also a common problem. Street Fighter 6 is probably the most anticipated fighting game in the public domain right now. People have seen these characters through the trailers and are eager to get their hands on them through the beta or the full release. It’s exciting to see what they can do! It’s only natural that those who have built their careers around the genre report on the footage. Anyone trying to cover it up.
Copy strikes on all channels of damn SF6 suck, especially when most of the creators are so excited to react to the content.
I was also very close to posting the video and then I woke up and saw the news.

So why are these strikes happening? Well, the thing is, this cool new footage is from the Street Fighter League Japan 2022 Finals, a pay-per-view event. If you want to watch these new characters or races live, you have to pay. The video reuploaded to Youtube isn’t freely available, so Capcom (or agencies acting on their behalf) have been responding with strikes.

Capcom has released some gameplay of these fighters via their Twitter account, but apparently the actual in-game match wasn’t released in full outside of the paid footage. Ultimately, it looks like the community will have to wait for more official clips to fix their SF6, or seek out these full games from the biggest creators.
