Rashid – the first DLC character for Street Fighter VI – coming to the game soon July 24.
Rashid, a fan-favorite character from Street Fighter IV, is a devastating charge character capable of high leaps and tricky aerial setups using his winning gear. He can also throw a tornado at you, which is pretty cool! Rasheed is also the series’ first Middle Eastern character, so it’s a joy to see him back.

Rashid’s whirlwind moves will send him flying through every fight, leaving all opponents far behind – unless they decide to like and subscribe. pic.twitter.com/l2lpkQDyUL

His reveal is accompanied by a brand new trailer showing off his moves. We see many of his old action lists return, as well as some truly dastardly combos. With this character dropping before Evo, you can be sure people will hone in on him and tap into as much potential as possible.
And one more thing – what a glow! Not only does Rasheed look stunning in Street Fighter VI, he’s older, with a beard and back, and better than ever. Nice to see that silly visor gone. Also, judging by his trailer, I think he has one of the best taunts in the game, doing quick push-ups and spins that accentuate his dynamic personality.
What an interesting move to have him as an anchor! Bandai Namco has previously worked with Julia on Tekken 7, and it’s a common way to modernize an older character’s backstory. Rasheed’s over-the-top approach to combat is perfect for the role, and it’s great to see it play out into his tertiary critical arts as well.
Honestly, Rasheed makes me hopeful for the rest of the returning characters in the Street Fighter 6 Season 1 DLC Pass. He’s been treated well here, allaying any concerns that Akuma and Ed had. Give Rashidooo a break from his old track though – maybe they’ll bring it back some other way.
