After a brief delay, the first season of MultiVersus launches later today, and soon the game will see the arrival of Morty of Rick and Morty fame. But according to Eurogamer, it seems that some characters that have not been officially revealed have been accidentally shown early.
Game Director Tony Huynh shared yesterday (August 14th) Players may see some unannounced characters on the login screen today (August 15th), presumably after the launch of Season 1, but the Xbox Store ad went live a bit early.
As _FireMonkey shared, Black Adam and Stripe from Gremlins have already been featured in ads on the Xbox Store, so it looks like they’ll be joining the platform fighter sometime in season one. Apparently it was just an ad and no specific details about the character were shared, but someone apparently pressed the “Go Live” button a little earlier.
Black Adam’s presence in season one makes a lot of sense, considering that the character movie starring a certain mineral-oriented ex-pro wrestler is set to hit theaters this October. Stripe’s presence is the weirder of the two, but Warner Bros. has a ton of IP at its disposal, so let’s be honest, anyone’s a game.
Rick, also known for Rick and Morty, is also scheduled to join the roster sometime in the first season, but so far, no release date has been set for any expected characters. We’ll just have to wait and see how they form compared to other fighters in the rankings.
Interestingly, a Separate post from multiversusie On Twitter, the game’s data appears to point to some kind of story mode, although nothing has been confirmed so far.
