This Thursday night, the video game industry held its 31st in celebration of the Game Awards 2022. A ceremony lasting more than three and a half hours that tied awards and game announcements together. A show that will no doubt remain in the annals as Geoff Keighley had failed to surprise for so long. Between games that nobody expected, rumors confirmed, release dates or great updates, here is the big recap of this TGA 2022.
From Hades 2 to Bayonetta Origins, big surprises at The Game Awards 2022
Publishers didn’t bother with the Game Awards 2022. Some fans got a heart attack from the first images, but no, it wasn’t Bioshock 4. Ghost Story Games, the new studio of the creator of the cult license, has finally presented its first game: Judas. For their part, FromSoftware fans were not only pleased with the dedication of Elden Ring to the sacrosanct title GOTY. The Japanese studio will continue not to release Bloodborne 2 to players, but will revive one of its equally popular licenses with Armored Core 6. This unexpected new work will be available in 2023 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and PC via Steam. The French from Don’t Nod also used the Game Awards 2022 to present their new project: Banishers Ghosts of New Eden.
Release dates galore and highly anticipated announcements
How to talk about the Game Awards 2022 without mentioning your returning guest: Hideo Kojima. The teasing hasn’t been subtle in several weeks, it was Death Stranding 2 that was announced as a PS5 exclusive. No exit window, we only know that Sam and Fragile will replace for new adventures. However, adventure seekers can head out in search of the mysteries hidden in the trailer. Highly anticipated since the anime box set on Netflix, the Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC also used the Game Awards 2022 to cause a surprise. PS5 players can therefore discover the epic story of Clive from June 22, 2023.

The Game Awards 2022 was also the scene of other announcements that didn’t deserve against the other big names. Tekken 8 showcased a juicier gameplay sequence featuring fan-favorite characters, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 showcased its first raids, while PlayStation announced two PC ports of its exclusive PS5.
