Tekken 8 is about to be released, but additional content in the fighting game will continue afterwards. A first DLC character has now been announced.
There are now less than two weeks until the new Tekken 8 is available. In advance, Bandai Namco has now released a fresh trailer that shows you the opening sequence of the beat’em up. In addition, the clip also confirms what was already suspected: there will be additional characters in the form of DLC.
In this context, it has now been made public that the returning and classic character Eddy Gordo will be the first DLC fighter and will also bring his martial arts style Capoeira back in the new title. Compared to previous appearances, Gordo has received a more radical redesign.
Eddy Gordo made his first appearance in Tekken 3 when he enters the Iron Fist Tournament for the first time to avenge his father’s death. Since then, the character has made it into every single Tekken game that has subsequently been released – and now also in Tekken 8. This also answers the pleas of some fans who emphasized that a Tekken roster would not be complete without him – however just now in the form of a DLC.
Separately, Tekken 8 already includes 32 fighters at the time of release, representing a mix of newcomers and returning characters. The new fighters include Azucena, Victor Chevalier and Reina. The list of all confirmed characters reads as follows:
- Alisa Bosconovich
- Asuka Kazama
- Azucena Ortiz
- Bryan Fury
- Claudio Serafino
- Devil Jin
- Eddy Gordo (Season 1 Pass DLC)
- Feng Wei
- Hwoarang
- Jack-8
- Jin Kazama
- Jun Kazama
- Kazuya Mishima
- King
- Same to you
- Lars Alexandersson
- Lee Kyle
- Leo Kliesen
- Leroy Smith
- Lili
- Ling Xiaoyu
- Marshall Law
- Nina Williams
- Panda
- Paul Phoenix
- Raven
- Reina
- Sergei Dragunov
- Shaheen
- Steve Fox
- Victor Chevalier
- Yoshimitsu
- Zafina
Before Eddy Gordo was officially confirmed, a leak already suggested the first possible DLC characters for Tekken 8. Gordo was also among them, so there could also be something to the other potential fighters who made the rounds via a screenshot from the German PlayStation Network. Accordingly, Roger the Kangaroo, Xiao Meng and Armor King could follow in the Year 1 Pass.
Away from Eddy Gordo, another returning character was shown in more detail in action in another new video featuring Zafina. You can also find the trailer attached.
Tekken 8 will be released on January 26, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
