“Tekken 8” has been released for less than a week, and boosters have already taken the top spot on the online rankings. These players who artificially inflated their rankings now occupy the top spot in the world in Tekken 8.
You can check it out yourself! If you own Tekken 8, you can follow players from the leaderboards and view their in-game replays. This will show you the games they’ve played recently, where it’s mainly one player walking towards another player without blocking or attacking. This isn’t a new problem in Tekken 8, but it was something we could quickly spot with the help of the in-game replay tool. Back in Tekken 7, the site even sold ranking boosts to people who were embarrassed by their actual Tekken prowess. This practice goes largely unpunished, but thankfully those willing to clean up the leaderboards can report those blatantly boosting. So, go for it, good Samaritans.
Judging from publicly visible metrics, Tekken 8 has been a huge success for the series. The game was so overwhelmed by players on day one that Tekken 8’s servers crashed across all platforms, breaking concurrency records on Steam in the process. With the issues resolved, players were so keen to participate and express themselves that they recreated various pop culture characters in the game while desperately pleading for others like Tifa to come in for actual guest roles.
Have you tried ranking in Tekken 8? If not, why not? The game is fantastic and is out now on PC and consoles. Give it a try and let us know what you think!
