We’re in the early stages of a new Apex Legends season, and as expected from any build to the release of a climactic update, we’ve had very little teasing about what’s coming out via the official Apex Legends socials. This time, it’s a workbench full of Easter eggs that caught the attention of the Apex Legends community, a bit late for the holidays but still welcome.
Since it was posted via the official Twitter account yesterday, the community has been picking through this image (embedded at the back of the article), finding numerous recognisable story tidbits and other clues that hint at Newcastle’s character. There’s a meme hidden there too, which is a good measure.
Let’s start with the story stuff. Right on the workbench you can see the bracelet popping up from the trailer, what appears to be an item of value for Newcastle. Pair that with some of the other hidden objects in the image, including a hand-painted family portrait that may have been drawn by a child (unless Newcastle is really bad at arts and crafts), and his child’s footprint next to the framed birth certificate is evident, we boy has some family problems.
Away from the Newcastle character, we see a long-dead Forge on the dart board at the far left of the image – the guy who was assassinated in Revenant’s reveal.as pointed out User Carlos in reply to tweetForge and Bangalore have some beef in the lore, so it only makes sense that her brother wouldn’t be the biggest fan.
Finally, we have the meme, and it’s a good one. To the right of the picture is a picture of Jackson and Bangalore posted on the wall. Those who follow internet memes will recognize the excited faces with their mouths open, as both legends point to the Leviathan in the background. As you can imagine, this took the community by surprise.
We still have some time to wait until we get more substantial information about Newcastle and the new seasonal update, but until then, hopefully little jokes like this will get us through the storm.
