The author answers the question that is on everyone's lips

The creator of Game of Thrones, George RR Martin, has once again answered the question that burns on the lips of fans of the books and still disappoints them.

The obviously busy George RR Martin sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to talk about four short films he financed based on the stories of a close friend. In passing, the creator of Game of Thrones mentions the long-awaited ending to the books that inspired one of the greatest series of all time… and hits the mark once again.

There is still no literary end to Game of Thrones in sight

Before Game of Thrones becomes the global hit we know from the HBO series (albeit with an eighth and final season that caused a lot of ink and disappointed many fans), it is above all a series of books written by George RR Martin…which he never finished. The most recent volume, A Feast for Crows, was first published in 2005. Two more volumes were to follow: “The Winds of Winter” (he apparently began writing in 2010) and “A Dream of Spring”.

Except the Game of Thrones series ended before the books (because of the very controversial outcome that we know of). And the author has just announced several times since then, by various means, that he is making no progress with his last two volumes…instead of actually working on it. The latest statement about this style comes from an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “ Unfortunately, I'm 13 years too late. I live life day by day. However, completing the books that inspired Game of Thrones remains a priority. A lot of people are already burying me and saying I'll never finish them. Maybe they're right, I don't know. But I'm still very much alive. I couldn't retire, I'm not a golfer ».

Remember, the author of A Song of Ice and Fire, who brought Game of Thrones to the screen, is still 76 years old. Still, given the colossal size of the previous works, it seems unlikely that the final two volumes will ever be published, much to the dismay of early fans. Especially since the man is already busy with his roles as consultant or producer of various adaptations of his vast universe, which, among other things, distracts him from his original role as an author.
