Riot Games' new tactical shooter Valorant is said to run on just about any PC system you can imagine. The developer wants to make his new shooter accessible to as many players as possible – just like with the in-house MOBA League of Legends. So fall the system requirements of Valorant for the PC almost terrifyingly small.
Bad graphics as the greatest opportunity
Since Valorant is a competitive first person shooter, the focus should not be on breathtaking graphics, but rather smooth performance and maximum FPS – as Riot now shows, even relatively old PC systems can hope for high FPS numbers.
This is also the great opportunity For the CS: GO competitor: If Riot actually manages to make the free title work on almost every weak computer, the developers can appeal to a larger target group and thus their chances of getting a share in the highly competitive multiplayer FPS market increase – much like Epic Games and Fortnite did in the Battle Royale genre.
Minimum requirements – 30 FPS
- CPU: Intel i3-370M
- graphic card: Intel HD 3000
- R.A.M.: 4 GB
- operating system: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit)
The minimum requirements to be able to play Valorant at 30 frames per second are actually extremely low.
The recommended CPU Intel i3-370M is a laptop CPU from 10 years ago and is therefore almost »ancient«. A correct graphics card is not even required, Riot recommends Intel's HD 3000 – an internal GPU unit of the Sandy Bridge CPUs from 2011.
So you could say: If you can run a current web browser on your PC to read this text, then Valorant will work pretty well for you.
Recommended specifications – 60 FPS
- CPU: Intel i3-4150
- graphic card: Geforce GT 730
- R.A.M.: 4 GB
- operating system: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit)
After all, to achieve 60 FPS you need a real desktop CPU – from six years ago. The recommended Intel i3-4150 CPU has two cores, four threads and clocks at 3.5 GHz.
As a graphics card, Riot recommends an Nvidia GT 730, also a six-year-old GPU. A modern equivalent would be an Nvidia GT 1030 or AMD's RX 550.
High-end specifications – 144+ FPS
- CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2 GHz
- graphic card: GTX 1050 Ti
- R.A.M.: 4 GB
- operating system: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit)
Ambitious and competitive players should try to see as many frames as possible for perfect aiming. Fortunately, anyone who owns a 144Hz monitor should crack the minimal hardware requirements for the magical 144 FPS limit.
Riot recommends an Intel Core i5-4460 (four cores, four threads, 3.2 GHz) and an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti – current alternatives would be a GTX 1650 or AMD's RX 570.
Valorant is coming in summer 2020
