As a player of The First Descendant, it can be a bit frustrating to find that all anyone is talking about is the game’s full-figured female characters, their skimpy outfits, and the jittery physics effects applied to too many body parts.
But how do you fight this trend? Well, some players have an idea, and that’s to appreciate other aspects of the way characters are designed in games.

warn: This article may contain some scenes of exposed buttocks from video games, so readers are advised to read with caution.
Every few posts on the game’s official subreddit, you’ll see something about Bunny, one of the game’s female characters and one of the most talked-about characters lately… for being oversized.
There are so many of these posts, in fact, that moderators are trying to limit them to a dedicated “appreciation” thread, but that may not do much to curb all the salacious talk. Since yesterday’s release, players have also turned their attention to other female characters, such as Grey.
Some people, not content to sit back and watch the game gain a certain reputation, began highlighting armor and other aspects of character design. Now, this may just be backhanded praise in an attempt to change people’s impression of The First Descendant, but many people are happy to be a part of it.
“No more half-naked women. It’s time for big armored men!” This is the title of a very popular post on the same subreddit, apparently created to draw attention to the beautiful design of the thick armor plates.
“Look at those fine leather accessories. The thickness of his armor plating is tasteful,” one comment read.

But it is unlikely to work, because even in this case identical In the thread, some people wished Ajax (a character wearing heavy armor) had more clothing options. Maybe a “maid outfit,” to be fair. Others, however, were more blunt about it. Ajax’s comments particularly resonated with players because the character is voiced by Doug Cockerell, who is famous for playing Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher series. Of course, Geralt has been the subject of a lot of fan fiction, so it all makes sense.
On a more serious note, The First Descendant remains extremely popular on Steam, breaking previous records for concurrent players, most recently just under 230,000. While player sentiment remains mixed, monetization issues are starting to surface that could ruin the honeymoon period sooner than you might expect.
