The Puckly Squire, an independent gem aspiring to be, used the latest Devolver Digital event to show off once again, and that still makes you want to, doesn’t it?
Devolver didn’t forget anyone this Christmas and decided to put on a small, completely crazy live show (as usual) to talk about their next releases. Among these, we hope, future little nuggets is The Plucky Squire, an atypical platformer that should cause a bit of a stir when it releases with its atypical universe and its more than tempting offerings.
The Puckly Squire, sings “Its Takes Two” alone?
The independent game took advantage of this new event to once again present itself with a gameplay sequence that will make your mouth water. The game immerses us in a fantastic universe in which the characters of a storybook discover that they can travel through our world and 3D. They then go on a search for their missing friends, which promises to be a surprising artistic epic. The game actually mixes genres and plays with them. 2D, 3D, isometric view, platforming, action and certainly a touch of RPG here and there.
Guaranteed change of scenery. In this way it is reminiscent of It Takes Two, the GOTY 2021, which also offered us a fantastic journey between reality and magic. However, there is no mention of cooperation in “The Plucky Squire”. At least at first glance, it will be a solo game. In any case, the game seems to be well on its way to becoming a real little revelation on the independent scene due to its concept and, incidentally, its interesting risk-taking.
The Plucky Squire was developed by All Possible Futures and is their first major project. It’s long overdue and won’t see the light of day until 2024 on PS5, Xbox Series, PC and Nintendo Switch. At the moment there is no concrete release date, so you will have to be patient.
