HEXWORKS’ post-launch successor to Lords of the Fallen reaches its climax with the release of version 1.5, which notably adds a highly anticipated free DLC.
As promised by HEXWORKS and CI Games as part of the free content roadmap for Lords of the Fallen, Souls-Like welcomes its final patch with the free DLC “Master of Destiny”. This allows you to significantly change the gaming experience.
Is Lords of the Fallen finally in control of its destiny with this free DLC?
Lords of the Fallen was released in October 2023 and, after a rather disappointing first attempt in 2014, once again offered an opportunity to restore the image of this Souls-like license. This new version was widely praised for its level design, based on two very different plans, and its challenging gameplay. However, the title suffered from performance issues and some balancing issues. HEXWORKS has since worked hard to refine its game with more than thirty patches.
Lords of the Fallen is receiving its final major patch today, with a feature Souls-Like greatly appreciates. This comes in the form of a free DLC called Master of Destiny. Its functionality is similar to a randomizer in other games in the genre. Players can create a tailored experience across seven different parameters. In particular, these increase the randomness of the enemies and bosses we encounter, as well as the loot recovered. There is also an Ironman mode, meaning your character’s death marks a return to the beginning of the game, but the player’s progress is saved to provide an experience similar to the roguelite genre. An ending that marks a new beginning
The addition of this free DLC therefore marks the end of the provision of free content and routine updates for Lords of the Fallen. Since its release, the game has actually received numerous new quests, new equipment, new abilities, balancing and even quality of life changes, as well as numerous fixes to improve performance and the overall gaming experience.
HEXWORKS and CI Games are now satisfied with the state of the game and are already looking to the future. The design of the license is not yet set in stone. Regardless, the future of this new version of the franchise looks more promising than its predecessor.
