The Last of Us: HBO orders, the series is still on track – News

It’s been a few months since we knew a series The Last of Us was in the making on the HBO site. Today we learn that the broadcaster has officially placed an order, which confirms that the appearance of the series on our screens is on the right track.

The announcement was made via a press release, published on Warner Media

by Christopher Godefroy, Head of Public Relations at HBO. In this release, we’re reminded that Craig Mazin (Chernobyl), Neil Druckmann (The Last of Us) and Carolyn Strauss (Chernoblyl, Game of Thrones) will be executive producers alongside Evan Wells (Naughty Dog), Asad Qiziblash and Carter. Swan from PlayStation Productions. The series is co-produced with Sony Pictures Television, supported by PlayStation Production, Word Games and Naughty Dog. Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO Programming, said in the announcement:

Craig and Neil are visionaries in their field. With them at the helm alongside the incomparable Carolyn Strauss, this series will appeal to both die-hard fans of The Last of Us games and newcomers (…) We are excited to partner with Naughty Dog, Word Games, Sony and PlayStation to bring this epic and haunting story to life.

Jeff Frost, President of Sony Pictures Television Studios, and Asad Qizilbash, Head of PlayStation Productions add:

The storytelling and ingenuity of PlayStation are a natural complement to the creative direction at Sony Pictures Television. Our collaboration is an excellent example of our “One Sony” philosophy. We look forward to developing even more legendary gaming IPs in the future.

At the moment there is no release date announced and the shooting is obviously not planned yet. When available, The Last of Us series will be available on HBO and the HBO Max streaming platform.
