The PlayStation-exclusive blockbuster The Last of Us: Part II has now reached another notable milestone in its relatively young history!
Accordingly, the sequel from Naughty Dog has now become the most awarded video game of all time. The RPG epic The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from CD Projekt RED has so far been able to boast this title, but this has now found its new master.
As has now been determined, The Last of Us: Part II has now received no less than 261 awards as Game of the Year – and no other title has achieved this to date. The previous top runner from The Witcher 3 brought it to 260 such awards and has held the top position with this number for a full five years. In short: The top position is unlikely to take away from the new Primus so quickly for years to come.
Especially since The Last of Us: Part II has the potential to increase this number even further. For example, the prestigious DICE Awards 2021 will soon be presented, and here too the title has been nominated in the category for Game of the Year.
The most important Game of the Year Award was certainly that of The Game Awards, which have become the most important award ceremony in the game business in recent years and are regularly held in December.
The game is also a commercial success, even if some fans also criticized the title. The game was once the victim of review-bombing on Metacritic, largely because Naughty Dog made some controversial story decisions. The bottom line is that there is no doubt about the quality of the game.
