The famous Elden Ring requirement and its DLC seem to have suffered a setback with the latest patch, which reportedly broke the delicate balance of making everything “too easy.”
In addition to reducing the immense power of Shadow of the World Tree’s final boss, Patch 1.14 massively buffed many elements available to Shardless in Elden Ring. So much so that many elements of the game and its expansion are now particularly trivial, with some builds completely outshining others.
Elden Ring’s delicate balancing is affected by the latest patch
FromSoftware is now known for a certain intransigence towards players’ expectations of its games. Elden Ring and its DLC were certainly no exception. Upon its release, Shadow of the World Tree confused many Shardless, who literally broke their teeth on several bosses, especially at the conclusion of the talented Japanese studio’s latest masterpiece.
Patches gradually arrived to smooth out the difficulty of the Elden Ring DLC, both by calming the bosses’ enthusiasm and increasing the power of certain pieces of equipment. However, it seems that with patch 1.14, FromSoftware pushed the difficulty slider down a bit too much. This actually massively strengthened weapons with poses, such as the dual blades of Rellana, the Lunar Eclipse Katana or the Hammer of Devonia, among others. This is especially evident when combined with Rellana’s Talisman, which reduces the delay when firing strikes from such weapons.
YouTuber Hyde illustrated these major changes in the Elden Ring meta in the following video. Here, bosses that are considered particularly deadly, such as Mallenia or bosses from the DLC, are completely ridiculed. Be careful, though, the video will inevitably contain SPOILER. So don’t watch it if you want to discover these bosses yourself. Aside from making boss fights almost trivial with the right build, players are also worried about Elden Ring’s PvP meta while waiting for the next balancing patch.
