CD Projekt Red has released the 4.02 update The Witcher 3 The next generation, improves the overall stability of the game.
One of the main takeaways from the PC patch is that it improves CPU cors utilization in the DX 12 build.
Other PC-specific fixes include restoring horizon-based ambient occlusion. If you turned off Ambient Occlusion before, you should turn it off again. You can find it in Options → Video → Graphics.
The “My Rewards” section’s lack of localization in REDlauncher has been fixed, along with the flickering landscape in Toussaint when Nvidia HairWorks is disabled.
The team also fixed an issue related to particle optimization that could cause temporary stuttering.
Console-specific fixes include improved next-gen console performance, a fix for characters no longer blurring during dialogue and cutscenes on PS5, and a fix for memory usage in Xbox Series X ray tracing mode. As a result, the game should no longer crash.
The game no longer crashes if Geralt escapes Shani after starting a conversation on next-gen consoles, you can now reload quicksaves when using cross-progression on Xbox One, and the two top swords were already miss ing on previous-gen consoles. Resolved an issue with overriding manual saves where in some cases the oldest game saves were deleted on PS5, but it should now work as expected.
Performance issues with Beauclair and Novigrad after loading game saves are no longer an issue.
This patch improves the look of water immersion by adding refractions to SSR and raytraced reflections on PC and next-gen consoles. It also resolves the visual issue of the brick texture, with black artefacts covering the stone arches. The developers have also added a motion blur slider to the game.
Update 4.02 fixes various quest and gameplay issues such as Battle Preparation, State Grounds, and Treasure Hunt. It also fixes an issue where trying to launch a new game+ on an incompatible save session would prevent you from launching the expansion in standalone mode until you rebooted.
It also fixes issues with the Korean localization of Ciri and Geralt’s Gwent card description, punctuation issues in the Arabic localization, and updates the Traditional Chinese font.
The changes mentioned above are only the most notable, as the patch contains other minor fixes not included in this list.
