Sauron wants to rule over Middle-earth, whether in Amazon’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” or in Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” films. The Dark Lord follows in the footsteps of his master Morgoth, who was defeated in the First Age of Middle-earth.

In the final episode of the second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” Sauron (Charlie Vickers) speaks of wanting to “heal” Middle-earth. So he’s actually not that far away from what he really wants…

Sauron’s master wanted destruction, Sauron wants perfection

While Sauron’s master Morgoth simply enjoyed destruction and “just” wanted to cause mischief in Middle-earth without having a big plan, Sauron’s ideas and thoughts come from elsewhere.

Sauron’s mentor was a Vala named Aule. This deity is a blacksmith and always strives for perfection, something that Sauron also strives for and has great reverence for. In Middle-earth, Sauron does not see this perfection.

This is the reason why he wants rule over Middle-earth, he wants to perfect and “heal” it in his own terms. Destruction is not its goal, but rather a means to it.

Sauron or Morgoth: who is more powerful?

After Morgoth’s downfall, Sauron became his successor. He builds a strong military force and terrorizes Middle-earth, but can he match the cruelty and power of Morgoth? We’ll tell you which Middle-earth villain is more powerful.

The second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” has come to an end with the eighth episode. So far it is not clear whether “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” season 3 will come. The consequences are already being worked on, but there is no official statement from Amazon yet.
