What happens next in “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”?
Feanor
There is a large statue in Eregion. It shows the face of Feanor, the grandfather of Celebrimbor. Feanor is probably the greatest elf-smith of all time. He forged the three Silmarils, which for the first time in the history of Middle Earth caused bloodshed among the Elves and turned them against each other.
Feanor’s hammer, which is in Celebrimbor’s possession, is also used by Celebrimbor to forge the Rings. It is the same hammer that made the Silmaril. This connection between the Rings and the Silmaril is a new invention in the series and does not come from the books.
Morgoths Krone
Sauron’s jagged crown, which we also know from the Lord of the Rings films, is referred to in episode 6 as Morgoth’s crown, which was modified for Sauron to fit him. As Morgoth’s successor, it is only fitting that he wears the same crown. In the First Age of Middle Earth, Sauron was a captain under Morgoth.
An incredibly powerful artifact from times gone by: Morgoth’s crown. But how did Morgoth’s crown become Sauron’s crown and why is it still important? We’ll tell you here!
Servants of the Secret Fire
When the Stranger (Daniel Weyman) speaks to Tom Bombadil (Rory Kinnear) in the sixth episode, he wants to learn how to control the secret fire. In “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” we learn that Gandalf is a “servant of the secret fire”.
This is what he says in the fight against the Balrog: “I am a servant of the secret fire, master of the flame of Anor. The dark fire will not help you, flame of Udun!”
Although it is not confirmed that the stranger is Gandalf, nothing else can be said now. And the films show that Gandalf will learn to serve the secret fire instead of controlling it. A lesson he learns from Tom Bombadil.
Bombadil quotes Gandalf
One of Gandalf’s most touching and philosophical quotes in “The Fellowship of the Ring” is when he speaks to Frodo (Elijah Wood) about Gollum: “Many who live deserve death. And some who die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then be not so quick to pronounce a death sentence.” Tom Bombadil now speaks this very quote in his conversation with the stranger.
