Gaming News The MMO Horizon would still be in development, but not on PS5!
After Horizon Zero Dawn in 2017, Guerrilla Games returned to the attack in February 2022 with Horizon Forbidden West, quickly accompanied by the Burning Shores expansion, and then back on the attack with Horizon: Call of the Mountain on PlayStation VR2. From now on we are talking about an MMO and its development finally seems to be confirmed.
Horizon: a young franchise with more than thirty million dollars
Horizon is a young franchise for PlayStation. Released in 2017, the film follows the adventures of Aloy, a young outsider who thrives in the ruins of our world. Giant robots whose goal was to make the planet habitable again have been partially corrupted by a rebellious AI, endangering humanity, which has reverted to a tribal state. As a huge open world that is brilliant in its dynamics and technology, Horizon: Zero Dawn was convincing and a sequel was quickly launched. If we combine the sales of the two main games as well as the contribution of Horizon: Call of the Mountain, the Horizon franchise is already represented Almost 33 million copies sold
A complete success, that brought studio director Hermen Hulst into the upper echelons of Sony Interactive Entertainment, and that seems to give the brand ideas. Since November 2022, several pieces of information have suggested the possibility Development of a Horizon MMO. At the time, Korean website MTN announced that NCsoft (Guild Wars 2) had signed a partnership with Sony to develop an MMO in the Horizon universe. Information that should be treated with caution, but has gained credibility as a result the official signing of a strategic partnership between the two companiesand continues to gain weight through user searches from X (ex-Twitter). Many clues point to a Horizon MMO… But where is the PS5?
According to this user, several job offers have appeared in the name of NCSoft a logo whose typography is strongly reminiscent of Horizon’s. The project is being actively developed further under this name Project Skyline
Everything I found about Horizon MMO (MMORPG to be precise):
It’s now essentially confirmed that the game is in development, as an NCSoft employee posted a job listing on LinkedIn with a codename logo stylized similarly to Horizon Games’ logo.

The project is being developed in the Lineage IP department by Sung-Gu Lee and led by Hong-Young Choi, who was previously responsible for the development of Lineage W. According to a former NCSoft employee’s resume on LinkedIn, the project started on Facebook around 2021. NCSoft has registered a domain for a game called Land of Salvation. Land of Salvation could POTENTIALLY be an official title for the MMO Horizon. This assumption is based on the fact that this is the only unannounced game we know of that could be revealed soon. Of course, it could be another project that we are not aware of.
What gets even stranger is that while this is actually a Horizon MMO, The PS5 is not mentioned in the job offers. The game is reportedly in development on Unreal Engine 5, but only PC and mobile are mentioned. The release of this project would be scheduled after that of from Aion 2, even expected in 2024/2025. Estimates speak of this 140 people involved in September 2023, which corresponds to a quite ambitious project.
Kurakasis is a very reputable account and its information is extremely credible, but you still need to remain cautious. The lack of an official announcement, image or explanation still prevent us from asserting anything, but the activity Sony is combining with NCSoft to “expand the PlayStation universe” is definitely worth seeing. Finally, let’s remember the guerrillas directly mentioned the idea of a multiplayer gameIt remains to be seen whether the decline in service game ambitions has had an impact on this project.
