The adaptation of video games to the seventh art has not exactly been a bed of roses. The cinema, for one reason or another, has not been able to faithfully transfer our favorite works and the result, in general, has been grotesque.
A saga that suffered this evil during the 90s was Mortal Kombat. The film Paul WS Anderson left us with our mouths openbut for the wrong reasons. Now, an adaptation by Warner Bros Pictures is underway
Entertainment Weekly has been in charge of unveiling the photographs to the world. Simon McQuoid He is the director of the film and it is his first feature film. Among the actors that make up the cast are Hiroyuki Sanada playing Scorpion, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson “Jax” Briggs Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade.
The movie will try the origin of the enmity between the clans of Sub-Zero and Scorpion, going back to feudal Japan. However, this will only be the beginning as the plot will take place in the present from the perspective of Cole Young
Cole will have a brand on the chest with the classic Mortal Kombat symbol, of which its origin is unknown. At one point, Cole will have to deal with Sub-Zero, as Shang Tsung, Emperor of the Outerworld realm, uses his cryomantic powers to send the icy fighter against him.
Mortal Kombat, produced by Todd Gardner and James Wan | from Aquaman, is scheduled for a simultaneous premiere in theaters and on HBO Max this April 16. McQuoid is still editing the film, but between his passion for blood in the scenes and wanting to create “the best fight sequences ever made in a movie,” you know that “it definitely won’t get a PG-13 rating. “
