1899: A Truly Original Netflix Series or a Pale Copy?
series 1899 would certainly have done without this headlight. Mary Cagnin, a Brazilian artist, accuses the creators of unrestrainedly plagiarizing the comic Black Silence. A comic she was working on. In a thread on her Twitter account, the illustrator explains that the series would plunder with a comparison between scenes from the Netflix show and the comics. Attention spoilers!!!

In 2017, the designer was invited to the Gothenburg Book Fair, where she was able to talk extensively and share Black Silence with publishers and professionals, but also produced an English version of the comic.
In her opinion, the Gothenburg Book Fair is so well known that Netflix and/or the makers of 1899 had knowledge of comics to build the series. Faced with all this, the artist thinks about what to do next, but asks netizens to send him all the likenesses.

Baran bo Odar, co-creator and director of 1899rejects this accusation of plagiarism and hopes that the illustrator will reconsider his statements.
As I mentioned in a previous post, we do not know this artist or her work on this comic. We would never steal from another artist as we are artists ourselves. We have contacted her in the hope that she will withdraw her allegations. The internet has become a strange place. Please more love and less hate.
