Sonic’s spin-off series themed around Knuckles has been in production since April last year and is finally taking shape. While part of the cast has been announced beforehand, new stars will be added in next year’s production.
The Evolution of the Sonic Cinematic Universe
The world of video games continues its push into cinema. After the success of the first two Sonic filmsSEGA has decided to continue the development of its true “Sonic Cinematic Universe” with the announcement of a Knuckles-centric seriesHer character appeared in the second film and was dubbed by Idris Elba.
This new production is scheduled to land and be released on Paramount+ by the end of next year the third part of the adventures of Sonic in the cinema. At the moment we already know a lot of information about this series. SEGA and Paramount are playing the security card by assigning the script to John Whittington, who is already working on Sonic 2. The first episode is directed by Jeff Fowler, director of the first two feature films, who has to return for the third.
The cast is getting closer!
While part of the cast has already been revealed, last but not least this week we learn of the arrival of new actors. Idris Elba will once again lend his voice to the red echidna, while Adam Pally will take on the role of police officer Wade Whipple. Edi Patterson, Julian Barratt, Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi and Ellie Taylor are among the newcomers, but that’s not all.
Christopher Lloyd, the famous “Doc” from Back to the Future, will also be part of the adventure. At his side we find Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride, the Saw saga), Stockard Channing (Grease, at the White House), Paul Scheer (Black Monday, Veep) and finally Rob Huebel (The Office, Children’s Hospital). As previously mentioned, Knuckles is expected to be released on Paramount+ late next year.
