Mass Effect veterans return with Exodus
Exodus is therefore the next veteran game in the Mass Effect series. It's no surprise that it's still a science fiction title, telling the story of a human race that left Earth to find a new home before it was too late. The Traveler, a character you create, must travel the galaxy to save what's left of humanity, at the risk of being unwelcome by alien species.
This new license will be an action RPG, which of course has similarities with Mass Effect, but also with Christopher Nolan's film Interstellar. And not just because the feature film's lead actor, Matthew McConaughey, also stars in Exodus. No, if the title is close to Nolan's science fiction gem, then it's also because of its concept and its way of dealing with time. “Exodus introduces an innovative new science fiction world that forces players to grapple with the consequences of their decisions over time.” explained James Ohlen, who worked on Baldur's Gate, Knights of the Old Republic and Dragon Age: Origins.
Time management, interstellar style
In a question and answer session, James Ohlen explained the concept that ties time to time in this game at the intersection of Mass Effect and Interstellar. “We have made the capital of your world, Persepolis, an important center of your adventures and experiences. So when you embark on your Exodus journey, you leave your city and some of your friends behind. And you make decisions about it. For example, not everyone has to participate in the exodus with you. You can leave something behind, and when you come back a decade or four decades later, those decisions will have affected your relationships with people who are now a decade or three or four decades older. » Ohlen detailed.
As we can read, the choices in Exodus promise to be even more advanced than in Mass Effect and even other games of this type. Because in addition to the changes in the crossed characters, the city and the technology will also evolve based on this time dilation. On paper it sounds like a dream.
