A new rumor about the future Xbox console has just surfaced, and this time we’re told of a 2026 release. What could we be dealing with?
With the PS5 and Xbox Series having been out for a few years now, some people are already looking to the future. What are Microsoft and Sony preparing for us? On the Xbox side, should we expect a machine somewhere in between like we saw with the Xbox One X? At the moment we are still a bit unclear on this topic. However, a leaker apparently has the answers to these questions, including a release date.
The new Xbox for 2026?
Exceptionally, the rumor was brought to us by Jeff Grubb, a journalist known for the reliability of his sources. Exactly one of them, Kepler_L2, claims that the next Xbox will be released in 2026. The insider in question is usually known for his theories on CPUs and GPUs. But every now and then it provides information about consoles, as was the case with the PS5 Pro. This time he is dealing with the new Microsoft machine, which has not yet been revealed. What did we learn?
Kepler_L2 already tells us that all of the American giant’s plans for a mid-gen console without a disc drive and with codenames like Ellewood, Brooklin and Uther have been canceled. This would allow the company to potentially focus on a new Xbox that would mark the start of a new generation sooner than expected. And of course, Microsoft wouldn’t wait until 2028 to do this, especially in response to the arrival of The Elder Scrolls VI, whose release date has not yet been announced.
Of course, you need to take all this information with a grain of salt. Whether it’s Jeff Grubb or Kepler_L2, everything they say is not yet officially confirmed. While it may make sense, it’s important to take a step back from all of this. Still, it gives a little insight into Xbox’s plans for the next few years. It goes without saying that the company has great projects for fans and we can’t wait to discover more. Maybe in 2024? Fingers crossed.
News from the PS5 Pro
According to Jeff Grubb, there is some exciting news for the PS5 Pro in addition to the Xbox. According to him, the machine would be planned for September 2024. As he passed, he returned to the list of the console’s technical features. Of course we have to expect great progress. In particular, it could benefit from a 60 percent improvement in raw performance, but also from the introduction of an artificial intelligence processor specifically designed for high resolution upscaling. In short, something similar to NVIDIA’s DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology. It remains to be seen whether this is all true. Be continued.
