Game News The next skate video game would be free to play and it will be possible to play it very soon!
Skateboard fans can enjoy a new title from EA’s cult license completely free of charge.
This is great news for fans of the genre: A new Skate game (EA) will be released on consoles and it will be a completely free service game. Developer Full Circle assures that it won’t even be “pay-to-win,” no paywall and no paid loot boxes. Nothing to spend, promised. The Flick-It system central to the Skate series has been reworked to improve the precision and control of tricks. Another new feature: For new players, a “simplified control” option has also been added, inspired by the modernized systems of recent fighting games. Skate rewards players for almost every action, allowing them to customize their character and environment. Lead designer Reid Buckmaster said the end goal is to make sure the tricks are still fun.
The game will also feature a dynamic soundtrack that evolves over time, providing an enriching musical experience.. There’s nothing better than skating to good music. In short, Skate aims to completely modernize the genre while retaining the key elements that made the series popular. Note that a playtest for console is planned for this fall.
“So we’re creating a soundtrack that we think you’ll enjoy, and it won’t be static, so you’ll get tired of it after a few months. It will evolve over time, and it will adapt to the way you listen to music in the game. And it’s not just about the music you listen to on headphones. We want San Van to be a world of music discovery, where you can discover new artists or genres just by skating around town.” – Matthew Smith, Audio Director.
The other skate game to remember
During the summer conferences Another skateboarding game, this time in a narrative genre, was highlighted during the Xbox Games Showcase: Mixtape. Developed by Beethoven & Dinosaur (The Artful Escape) and published by Annarpuna, the game follows three friends on their last night of high school as they explore a series of memories through a carefully selected playlist. The soundtrack promises to be danceable with tracks from DEVO, Roxy Music, Lush, The Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division and many others. Release is planned for 2025 on PC and consoles.
