Nvidia’s next high-end graphics card, the RTX 5090, has just seen its leaked specs and obviously looks absolutely impressive. A real slap in the face.
Nvidia is preparing the arrival of its new generation of graphics cards, the RTX 50xx series, and the first information is starting to leak. According to several sources, in particular the well-known leaker Kopite7kimi, the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 models promise to be very powerful, but with an equally high energy requirement.
The Nvidia RTX 5090 should be a power beast
The Nvidia RTX 5090 will undoubtedly be the most anticipated card. It should have 32GB of GDDR7 memory on a 512-bit bus and offer massive bandwidth. Additionally, it would have 21,760 CUDA cores, a notable increase over the RTX 4090.
However, this increase in performance will be noticeable in energy consumption. We are talking about a consumption of up to 600 watts, which is 150 watts more than the RTX 4090. It is not yet clear whether this performance applies to the entire card or just to the GPU, but regardless of whether you have effective cooling need system to avoid overheating.
The RTX 5080, a powerful but more accessible option
For those looking for a less demanding option, the Nvidia RTX 5080 could be a good compromise. With an estimated consumption of 400 watts, it exceeds the 320 watts of the RTX 4080, but remains well below the requirements of the RTX 5090. In terms of specifications, it would offer 16 GB of GDDR7 memory on a 256-bit bus, and would be at 10,752 CUDA cores.
Although the RTX 5080 is less powerful than its big brother, it should still offer very high performance for gamers and content creators looking for an excellent performance/energy ratio.
Nvidia continues to push the boundaries with this new generation. The improvements in memory, processing power with CUDA cores and general performance show that the company wants to maintain its lead in the graphics card market.
