The Mortal Kombat musical theme created for the 1995 film, the official title of which was Techno Syndrome, went down in legend and has since been closely tied to the Mortal Kombat license as a whole. The imminent production of the new feature film in theaters is aware of this and has decided to pay tribute to it.

As part of the promotion for the new film Mortal Kombat, Warner Bros. released the new version of Techno Syndrome, the famous Mortal Kombat musical theme (composed at the time by The immortals, Duo consisting of Praga Khan and Olivier Adams). Techno-Syndrom 2021, composed by Benjamin Wallfisch (even before filming started) is clearly a modernized cover of the original song.
If it takes up familiar elements of the subject that are now more than a quarter of a century old, such as the scream “MORTAL KOMBAT“and reviewing MK’s various characters, it adds more timely sounds (like a passage in dubstep that Electronic Arts press conference organizers surely wouldn’t deny). Obviously, not everyone will like this piece. But it suits Mortal Kombat universe pretty good.
Ternel new beginning
As mentioned above, techno syndrome was originally only linked to the movie Mortal Kombat, directed by Paul WS Anderson, which was released in 1995. However, the song became so popular that it was ultimately used to promote Mortal Kombat video games as well, The Mortal Kombat 11 trailers have shown.
The famous scream “MORTAL KOMBAT” is that of Kyle Wyatt, an actor who starred in the American advertisement for the release of the console version of the first Mortal Kombat. After this spot was shot, its original scream was changed to the one used in the song (as well as in the spot itself).
As a reminder, the release of Mortal Kombat in the United States is imminent. In fact, the film will hit US theaters and on HBO Max on April 23rd. In France, the film has no release date as no reopening date has been announced for cinemas.
