Things are not looking good for Forspoken at the moment. The Playstation version of the role-playing game was sometimes heavily criticized in the trade press and has only been able to achieve a mediocre metascore of 68 so far.
Due to the lack of review versions, there are also no specific PC tests so far, which is why the first Steam ratings now serve as the only basis for an assessment of this version. And these fall with only 47 percent positive from a total of around 1,300 reviews not exactly flattering either. But what exactly is being criticized?
Technology and narrative in focus
A lot of disappointment can be read from the reviews. Players had expected more from Forspoken in various respects and criticize both content and technical aspects. However, dissatisfaction is repeatedly expressed about three things in particular:
- The graphic: Many reviews are disappointed with the visual quality of the game. Forspoken would have looked a lot nicer in the trailers. In addition, one would have fundamentally from one

hoped for more. It rarely becomes concrete, but apparently some textures have a very low resolution.

- Technology and performance: It is also frequently reported that there are performance drops and problems even with strong systems, especially after the change from New York to the fantasy world. Some players are also struggling with crashes and a constantly rotating camera.
- Narrative: The story of Forspoken is also criticized in many ways. The dialogues themselves do not go down well with some players and appear unconvincing to them. The form of the narrative is also repeatedly criticized. The transition between the games, the dialogues and cutscenes is not designed smoothly and tears you out of the action. The main character Frey is not always well received, the problems of many summarizes a review
Your “slang” just doesn’t fit that scenario for me. It seemed to me as if they were trying to incorporate youth language with all their might. That actually scared me off. After 2 hours […] then came the decision to return this game.
All in all, I can say that Forspoken completely caught me with his videos at the beginning, but then lost me immediately after the “final” version of the game. It has lost everything that fascinated me so much about this game. I don’t have a problem with a strong female main character, but then please one who doesn’t constantly swear and acts so like an angry teenager that you really have to be ashamed of her.
It should be noted that hardly anyone has seen much of Forspoken. Most of the ratings were created after a relatively short playing time, and – in terms of content – are therefore only meaningful to a limited extent. Some points are also controversial, and others rate the graphics quality very well. And some players also seem to experience few or no technical issues.
