It is sometimes difficult to identify the marketing decisions of the largest publishers. Not long ago, Nintendo surprised everyone by airing one of the surprises from the Super Mario Bros. movie in a TV commercial. The hit feature film’s post-credits scene has been revealed to the world.
Super Mario Bros. is just a massive box office success. The Nintendo and Illumination movie (Despicable Me, The Minions) actually surpassed $1 billion at the box office. In other words, The film is simply placed on the podium of the most lucrative adaptations and at the same time integrates the top 10 animated films that have made the most money.

Why such a choice?
The information was recently shared by Aiden129 on Twitter. In fact, in his tweet we can see the commercial that is causing the problem. The latter, made up of several short sequences, shows, as we have already said, the scene after the credits roll. In the latter we can see a Yoshi egg hidden in the sewers; it starts to open. Then the image gives way to a black screen and the emblematic cry of the dinosaur. And If we only see the egg in the advertisement, this choice is just strange because it can create false expectations.
Apart from a brief scene where we see a herd of Yoshis walking in the distance, there is simply no Yoshi in the film. In other words, new viewers will walk into dark rooms with the expectation of seeing Mario’s dinosaurs, which unfortunately won’t come true.
Of course, we weren’t the only ones asking the question, and that’s why some fans are wondering if this commercial wasn’t made before the film’s success. This would then explain the presence of the Yoshi Egg, which can only get you this Super Mario Bros. inside. Others believe the commercial was simply designed to generate as many ideas as possible in under 14 seconds. In any case, the two arguments hold together. Why do you think Nintendo made this choice?
