Because it’s not just Nvidia in the life of a PC gamer. AMD just introduced its Radeon RX 7900XTX and 7900XT. Very difficult?
At its “together we advance_gaming” event, AMD was able to present its latest Ryzen 7000 with great fanfare. For a change, it was the charismatic Lisa Su, the company’s CEO, who came directly to present the new graphics card features to us.
AMD hits hard
The aim was to showcase the RDNA 3 architecture and give Nvidia a strong response after announcing and releasing the impressive RTX 4000 generation. AMD therefore made the wise decision to focus on two models, the Radeon RX 7900XTX and 7900XT, and not to multiply the entries under the penalty of losing the viewer and the potential buyer a little.
The first of these is the 7900XTX, which is based on a Navi 31 GPU. It has 84 processing units at 2GHz, 20GB of GDDR6 memory, all on a 320-bit bus. Significantly less powerful than its big sister, the AMD Radeon RX 7900XTX, which has 96 processing units clocked at 2.3 GHz and 24 GB of GDDR6 memory with a 384-bit bus. Note that it only draws 350 watts versus 300 watts on the 7900XT. That’s a lot less than the consumption of an RTX 4090 with its 450 watts.
On average, the red company announces that the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is 70% faster than the Radeon RX 6950 XT, a nice performance gap that should allow you to enjoy AAA in the best possible conditions. Unfortunately, AMD didn’t provide any comparisons to Nvidia cards like a framerate comparison chart or anything, and that’s a shame. This certainly means that the performance of the greens is superior.
The Radeon RX 7900 XTX and Radeon RX 7900 XT will be available starting December 13, priced at $999 and $899, respectively. A significantly lower sum than Nvidia.
