Rumors are brewing again about the new version of the PS5 that Sony would prepare in the utmost secrecy.
If it is obvious that Sony is already working on new models, Slim and / or Pro, of its PS5, it could be that we can see the result sooner than expected.
A PS5 Slim to start the 2023 school year?
A new case, a lighter console and a removable drive are therefore on the agenda for this PS5 Slim, which according to Insider Gaming sources could see the light of day as early as September 2023 (Tom Henderson
In fact, it is reported that with this new PS5 Sony would opt for a complete overhaul of the console’s current design, this time betting on something thinner, with certainly new components, although nothing seems to confirm that the performance of the machine will rebuilt.
A new console, lighter than the last versions and with a new design that would also be partly due to the presence of an external game player, also often mentioned but whose existence has never been confirmed.
According to Henderson’s sources, this removable drive should come alone (perfect for current PS5 digital owners) or in a bundle with the new machine. The latter would connect directly to the back of the PS5 via the USB-C ports and could even be attached to the console to take up minimal space while maintaining a nice aesthetic. As a reminder, Microsoft is also working on a somewhat similar concept for external drives.
With the release of PSVR 2 confirmed for early next year and this new dose of information regarding the possible release of a PS5 Slim for the month of September next year, the year 2023 promises to be busy both for PlayStation and for the brand that already had a significant increase in its Console production announced.
Of course, we’ll take all of this with a grain of salt while we wait to get to the bottom of it.
