Netflix has just welcomed a new event series at the end of 2023. A future big success? It looks like it is. It’s already causing a stir among fans of the genre.
Netflix is doing everything it can for this end of the year. Between the highly anticipated release of Rebel Moon, the new feature film phenomenon from Zack Snyder, the platform is serving us a brand new series that is already attracting a lot of attention. A program that, however, is far from the spirit of the end-of-year holidays, since the series is very clearly reminiscent of a huge Capcom production, a certain Resident Evil.
Netflix and its new phenomenon series from Korea
So horror and Korean horror with it The Creature of Kyōngsōng. A series that wants to make us shudder while causing hectoliters of hemoglobin to flow. The Creature of Kyōngsōng places its property in the middle of South Korea in 1945 under complete Japanese colonization. And during this dark time in the country’s history, a man and a woman are thrown into terror when he unfortunately enters a prison hospital in search of missing people. Kyōngsōng. The building is inhabited by dangerous men, but also by a creature that has a certain appetite for human flesh.
Like a touch of Resident Evil in 45
The series currently benefits from that famous aura of Korean series that no longer skimp on resources to ensure the spectacle and, above all, are increasingly more qualitative and casual. Here it is. The first few episodes, even the first few minutes, set the tone. The atmosphere is there, oppressive, violent, disturbing, and the plot keeps the pace up a bit, with a fair amount of blood here and there. Time will tell, but what is certain is that the series is already having a small impact on fans of films and series of the genre, such as: Sweet home
For their part, players will certainly find a little (a lot) of Resident Evil, both in the way certain sequences are carried out and in the offer itself. The result is definitely very entertaining. Recommended for fans of the genre and curious people who don’t really know what to watch.
