Unless James Gunn gives us a surprise, it will take much longer than desired to see Batman on the big screen again. Not only because The Brave and the Bold project has a long, long way to go; but because the highly anticipated sequel to The Batmanstarring Robert Pattinson, will arrive a year later than expected.
Through The Hollywood Reporter It is confirmed that the film The Batman Parte II has moved its release date to October 2, 2026. That is to say, technically it is a whole year of difference with respect to the original calendar, scheduled for October 2, 2025. The collateral effect: compared to the expectations generated, Superman and the Dark Knight will not release a film in the same year.
To be fair, it would be something more symbolic than anything else. As James Gunn himself already established, the trilogy of Batman played by Robert Pattinson takes place in the equivalent of the Elseworlds of his new DC Cinematic Universe, so, unless the next Flash gets unruly, it will not at all affect DC’s great ongoing superhero project in film, television and the rest of the media.
Directed by Matt Reeves, who was also behind the cameras with The Batman
What’s more, at the end of this year – and barring breaking news – The Penguin, the series based on the Penguin character played by Colin Farrell, is expected to be released. A production that, in fact, was also moved from the calendar.
All in all, a true golden age is coming up for fans of DC superheroes when it comes to releases. On the horizon, and for this same year, we have Creature Commandos y Waller. On July 11, 2025 we will see Superman (previously known as Superman: Legacy) and, little by little, the rest of the heroes and villains will arrive.
And even though the wait until The Batman Parte II It’s going to be long, things as they are, the plans to expand the DC brand don’t stop. And that, with a view to the future, will give a lot of play to all future projects related to the protector of Gotham.
