Halbrand felt us pretty much astray in the first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. But when he promised Galadriel that he had never lied to her, he was actually right. We show you all the “lies” Halbrand told us.
Sauron is the master of deception and lies. He took this art to the extreme in the first season of the Amazon Prime Video series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
After the fall of his master Morgoth, Sauron initially withdrew, leaving everyone to believe he too had been defeated. When his subject Adar finally wanted to assume the post of Dark Lord, Sauron had to step in and begin to rebuild his power in Middle-earth.
Under the guise of the Halbrand, he returned posing as a Southl ander with a knack for blacksmithing. With his good looks, great self-confidence and charm, he not only managed to win over the audience, but also Sauron’s greatest opponent Galadriel.
Her trust brought him access to Eregion and the blacksmithing of the Elf Celebrimbor. Together they were able to unconsciously implement his dark plans to forge the rings of power.
By the time Galadriel notices the dizziness, it’s already too late. But Halbrand, or rather Sauron, claims to have never lied to his new elf friends. If you twist and bend the truth as you please, there may well be something to it.
We’ve taken a look at all of the evil lord’s half-truths and tell you what Halbrand’s words really mean.
